Our Garden Adventure 2009

I have wanted to try my hat at vegetable gardening for some time. The kids and I are going to use this garden as an educational one. I want them to be as involved as possible in the making, tending, harvesting , and EATING of this garden. I will post pictures to update our progress. Go easy on us..this is our first time.

Recent fieldtrip in photos

Triple H's favorite part..playing on the rocks of course!
Princess Poodle had her share of climbing too.

A beautiful butterfly that I saw in the Butterfly habitat.

The same butterfly but in black and white, easier for sketching.

Our adventure was a last minute whim and it turned out to be a wonderful day. The kids completed a wildlife bingo scavenger hunt, worked in their sketch pads, climbed rocks, explored and filled up with a good hamburger when we were done. We hope to go back next week for the birds of prey show. Admission is free all month long. You can't beat that!

My Woodland Fairy and other news

I have been so bad about posting. Life is a bit crazy right now. I have to memorize a long monologue for our Easter play. We are trying to get our garden spot ready. Its time to plant potatoes! I need to do a history project with Princess Poodle but there just doesn't seem to be any time. I think we are going to take a week off soon for Winter Break and that will give me some time to plan ahead. I want to finish reading about the human body this month. I want to teach the kids about birds this spring and then about reptiles and amphibians in late spring. I also have to plan ahead for our last unit on American History which will be about the pioneers. So much to do and all before June when we will take 4 weeks off before we start the new year in July! I am feeling a bit overwhelmed at all I have to do..can you tell?
